A grey nomad’s adventure around Oz

Sold, sold sold at last!!!

Whooo. hooo. I knew it would happen some time, but must confess I was getting a little frustrated…but yes, I have sold the motorhome. Oddly enough it was from the very first website I advertised it on about 6 months ago.

A youngish couple with 2 kids still at home bought it. He works at the mines, with trucks and so any little glitches about the truck gave him no concern at all. And to make it even better they just want to take it as it is…I don’t even have to replace the flat vehicle and house batteries and get the service done…I reduced the price to account for that and he will do it all himself. In many ways, the guy reminds me a lot of Eric…a mechanic and obvious handyman who will love pottering on the truck and easily deal with any little problems that might arise with an older vehicle.

They were the first people to look at the motorhome and I had a good feeling straight away. Know they will get as much joy out of travelling in it as we did. Seems so strange to think that I will no longer have the motorhome…it has been such a huge part of my life for so many years. No, don’t think I will buy a smaller one to travel in….I have moved on from that part of my life and am undertaking all sorts of new adventures.

Have been so busy the last week….sewing, babysitting, quilting group, Naturalist club outings…church ladies group meeting. So many really lovely people in this place and it really is starting to feel like home.

My Mum is moving into Low Care at the home she has been in for the last 5 years, at the end of next week, so a trip to Adelaide/Tassie/Sydney coming up in the next couple of weeks.

The couple who bought the motorhome planned to pick it up in 2 weeks, but after they got home she rang to say she is going to try to get time off this week so they can pick it up in a few days!! Think they are rather excited about it and can’t wait to get it. They got it for a good price…they had been looking around at lots of other buses/motorhomes/caravans so knew they had a good deal….but I am also very happy with with the price, so you can’t ask for more than that.

Also been busy going to the pool about 4 or 5 times this week…keeps me active and in the hot weather is most refreshing. Take my knee replacement friend along, so we encourage each other to go. Think going that often qualifies for a fancy new pair of bathers from a great website Jacki recommended!!

Just realised that the motorhome sold almost 12 months to the day from when Eric went into Palliative Care….most appropriate. Know Eric would whinge that I didn’t get enough for it, but I’m extremely happy and that’s all that counts now. Come on new life!!!!! Or should I say, keep going new life!!

  1. Happy and Sad. You are moving on. Glad your hip is improving and you are all well. We were thinking of Eric on our little train trip south last weekend. Doesn’t seem possible even if we did not see you as much in the past few years.
